Full solidarity
We report what was published by Tuscany regional section of Arci Caccia: “The last few days, starting from Thursday, have been very difficult for the populations of Florence, Prato, Pistoia and several other places in Tuscany. Arci Caccia wants to demonstrate its solidarity and closeness to the affected populations and the families of the victims of this new tragedy. A round of applause to the many volunteers, including some of our members, who are doing their utmost to help get everything back to normal as soon as possible."
The toll of the flood
Meanwhile, the local Coldiretti has updated the budget of the event: "At least 50 million euros of damage in the countryside due to storm Ciaran which injured a thousand agricultural businesses in the provinces of Prato, Pistoia, Pisa, Livorno, Lucca, Massa Carrara, Siena and Grosseto. More than half of the damage is attributable to the Pistoia nursery sector. This is the first estimate by Coldiretti Toscana following the exceptional disturbance with land and nurseries ending up under more than a meter of water, stables, barns and greenhouses uncovered, tractors in the mud, fruit trees and olive trees broken but also roads and rural roads hit by landslides and mudslides”.
A rough estimate
The note from the agricultural association continues: "This is still an approximate and continually updated estimate which takes into account the direct and visible damage to agricultural structures such as greenhouses, sheds, warehouses, vehicles, equipment, production factors (fertilizers, seeds, etc.) and lost or damaged production.”
