Fernanda Cecchini, Councilor for Agriculture of the Umbria Region, defended the fallow deer and roe deer hunting in this territory. As underlined in a press release, the selective collection of the two ungulates can restart thanks to the recent ruling of the Regional Administrative Court. Particularly, the judges of the TAR expressed their opinion with ruling number 27 of 2019, sanctioning the legitimacy of the calendar decided by the local authority and therefore all the relative acts undertaken.
The pronouncement was highly anticipated, given that the hunting activity was effectively blocked due to the appeal of the WWF. The suspension of the selection hunting to the wild was officially revoked, therefore, the restart can take place on a regular basis, in the times and in the manner initially envisaged. Councilor Cecchini also stressed that it is being evaluated the possible recovery of the remaining hunting season.
The Region is in contact with the various hunting associations to try to fill the gap in the failed killing that have been foreseen by the plans. Going into more detail of this last clarification, we are talking about the withdrawals that have not been made in the period between August and September last.
