The First Section of the Regional Administrative Court of Sardinia upheld the appeal of Legal Intervention Group against the Region and various hunting associations in the area: in a nutshell, the environmental non-profit had asked to ban the hunting hare and Sardinian partridge, as required by 2017-2018 hunting calendar of the island. According to the judges of the TAR, there is still no updated monitoring on the situation of the two species, so among other things the GIG has requested a special protection regime.
Furthermore, the ruling proved the applicants right in the part in which the reduction of specimens following the admission of two hunting half days (24th September and 1st October). The judgment also took its cue from the ISPRA request, according to which the hunting of hares and partridges due to lack of consistency data.
Furthermore, the ordinance also speaks of a concrete risk of rarefaction and extinction, despite the fact that there had been reassurances to this effect in recent days. This is a temporary ban on hunting: the precautionary principle has therefore been applied the Sardinian calendar has been suspended in the part concerning the two species, while the discussion on the merits of the appeal will take place on 20 December.
