Maran Bill
The Senate's 8th (Environment, Ecological Transition, Energy, Public Works, Communications, Technological Innovation) and 9th (Industry, Trade, Tourism, Agriculture and Agri-food Production) drafting committees will deal with the Maran bill presented on June 20th. The bill concerns amendments to Law No. 157 of February 11, 1992 , which contains provisions for the protection of warm-blooded wildlife and hunting.
The anti-hunting positions
The decision – which has already raised protests from animal rights activists and anti-hunters, who consider the assignment to joint commissions a “gift” to the hunting world – was announced during the session of last June 25 and must now begin the reading and discussion of the individual articles that make up the bill.
Final vote
The assignment to the Senate as a drafting body is a procedure that allows a permanent or special Commission to examine and amend a bill, with the Assembly reserving only the vote on the articles and the final vote with declarations of vote. In essence, the Commission, in this case the two Commissions combined, drafts the final text of the measure, which is then submitted to the Chamber for approval.
