Carla Casciari, director of the Democratic Party, submitted to the attention of the Regional Council of Umbria a motion concerning the system of short supply chain for wild boar. The Council itself decided to refer the proposal back to the Commission for new and additional ones insights, but what exactly is it. In the classroom of Palazzo Cesaroni we talked about the possibility of establishing this system in Umbria, in order to enhance the quality of the meat obtained fromwild boar containment activities.
The motion also contains the hope for the creation of a supply chain in which the animals are carefully checked, without forgetting the processing of wild animals within authorized slaughterhouses for these specific situations. The slaughterhouses themselves, then, should be at the complete disposal of the hunters who are part of the containment teams.
The short supply chain in Umbria would involve various institutions, both at regional and local level. In particular, reference was made to Territorial Areas of Hunting, the Department of Prevention and the Health Service, but the Umbrian natural parks, that is to say the places where ungulates are most present. The ultimate goal is to create a local brand that can be promoted in Italy and abroad.
