La Regional Council of Umbria, on the proposal of the councilor for hunting, approved the hunting calendar for the 2019-2020 season. “The hunting activity will start on June 16th with the selection hunt for deer - underlines the commissioner - while the general start of the next hunting season is set for the third Sunday of September falls on the day of 15. Considering that the new regional hunting plan is in progress, the two pre-opening days that usually took place in the first days of September have not been included in the calendar ”.
Compared to the previous hunting seasons, moreover, in the new hunting calendar the collection of wild turtledove has been limited, following the approval of the National Management Plan which recognizes the state of difficulty in which the Mediterranean population of the species finds itself, as well as for some species of aquatic avifauna. Instead, the withdrawal periods are confirmed huntable species, provided for in the pre-adoption deed and already used in previous seasons. From 15 September to 30 December 2019 it is expected that the following species will be hunted: lark, wild rabbit, pheasant, blackbird, quail, partridge, red partridge, cottontail. From 15 September 2019 to 30 January 2020 to: teal, mallard, gargane, wood pigeon, hooded crow, jay, magpie, woodcock, snipe, gadwall, cesena, pintail, wigeon, coot, whisk, moorhen, shoveler, tufted duck , pochard, lapwing, water rail, song thrush, redwing, fox.
From 15 September to 31 October 2019, hunting for turtledove is allowed; from 15 September to 30 November 2019 to the female pheasant; from 15 September to 8 December 2019 to the hare. From 6 October 2019 to 5 January 2020 to wild boar in the allowed forms. The hunting calendar also establishes prohibitions, hunting days, hours of the hunting day, game bag, stalking, hunting discipline in mountain passes (with relative list) and in special protection areas, card for hunting, training and dog training (from 18 August to 12 September 2019), provisions on species control, hunting residence, natural parks and contiguous areas.
