Il Weapons Museum of Gardone Val Trompia, in the province of Brescia, has decided to celebrate its ten years of life in a very special way. This structure has existed since 2007 and the declared objective from the outset was to tell with passion and attention the socio-economic context that has made this Lombard town (famous for being the headquarters of Beretta) a world reference for what concerns the arms sector.
In this decade, conferences and exhibitions have never been lacking, as well as workshops and publications. In particular, in the last few days a new exhibition section dedicated to roccoli was inaugurated, an initiative aimed at remembering the hunt of bygone days. The Brescia Museum, which is managed by the Valtrompia Archival System, was supported in this project by the Municipality and the Mountain Community. In the section there will be many historical testimonies dedicated to the roccolo, specifically documents, photographs and moments of life.
The documents were collected in Gardone itself, but also in Lumezzane and Tavernole, without forgetting the interviews and much more. The hunting system of the roccoli is typical of these valleys, as well as those of Bergamo, ed it has existed since the 400th century, therefore, their historical and cultural richness could not be neglected for much longer.
