The requests to Palazzo Chigi
There are nine signatures on a letter on behalf of the research world addressed to the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, to staunchly defend theISPRAThe aim is to push the Prime Minister to support the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, which would be attacked in an unjustified and pressing way.
The signatories of the appeal
The names are quickly said: they are Silvano Toso, former director of INFS, Osvaldo Veneziano (former number one of Arci Caccia) and Gabriele Sperandio. The other signatures are those of Alessandro Bratti, Luigi Boitani, Angelo Giuliani Betti, Paolo Lanfranchi, Pier Giuseppe Meneguz and Enzo Valbonesi. In short, the issue concerns hunting calendars.
What will Giorgia Meloni do?
As is easy to ascertain, the animal rights appeals rely on the opinion of ISPRA, certainly not soft on hunting, a non-binding opinion but which the TAR often take into account to reject the calendars. It remains to be seen whether Giorgia Meloni will respond to this letter in which the body is defined in no uncertain terms as "an institute that from damage enjoys the esteem of the Italian, European and international scientific world".
