Residential neighborhoods
Yesterday morning, the mayor of Campobasso, Marialuisa Forte, has once again sent an official note to the Region, which is competent in the matter, urging urgent interventions to contain and limit the presence of wild boars in the municipal territory. This is the third request since taking office at Palazzo San Giorgio, given the numerous reports that continue to reach the Municipality regarding sightings of herds of wild boars in residential neighborhoods, central areas and districts of the city. These reports highlight a consequent risk to public health and safety, considering the potential aggressiveness of these wild animals and the high possibility that they are carriers of diseases.
Faunistic heritage
“The increasingly widespread and consistent presence of wild boars in densely populated areas of the city, and the contextual regulatory competence in matters of wildlife heritage that belongs to the Region, require urgent and timely interventions to contain and limit the presence of ungulates in the Campobasso area. We invite the Region to implement concrete actions as soon as possible” declared Mayor Forte.
The appeal to ASREM
Furthermore, wild boar carcasses awaiting disposal are present in the city, with negative health and hygiene consequences and a negative impact on the urban decorum. Therefore, the mayor urged the competent ASREM Department to activate the disposal service for these carcasses as soon as possible.
