Too many wild boars in the street, too many episodes of devastation with overturned trash cans and garbage scattered on the asphalt together with shreds of plastic bags and packaging: so to Roma north Ama has decided to remove the bins. It happens in via dell'Acqua Traversa and in some branches of viale Cortina d'Ampezzo: a quadrant of the territory that borders the Insugherata Nature Reserve, 740 hectares of dense greenery between Cassia and Trionfale with the extremes between La Giustiniana and Monte Mario. It is from there that the ungulates come, attracted by the waste that often remains in the bins for days. Numerous reports from residents on herds of wild boars in the middle of the road e dangerous assaults, like the one experienced by Luca: a boy from the area who, in order to escape the charge of the boar, made a frenzied run with his dog before finding a safe shelter.
Thus "In order to limit the presence of ungulates", the textual words on the warning sign posted by Ama in recent weeks (published by Vignaclarablog), the road containers have been removed. Users sent to services in bins located elsewhere. "Too bad that the closest are almost a kilometer away”- thunders Marco Ottaviani, councilor of FdI in Town Hall XV. “It is absurd that in order to resolve the wild boar emergency it is decided to eliminate the bins.
We consider this decision, taken from Ama in line with the indications of the Municipality and Municipality XV (both with a Pd majority), does not represent the solution to the problem in the least, but is in effect yet another mockery against citizens, forced to travel kilometers in order to be able to throw the waste in a bin”- Ottaviani and party colleague Adriana Glori say.
“This is an action that has neither head nor tail” - comments Stefano Erbaggi, exponent of the Roman executive of the Brothers of Italy. "Instead of thinking about increasing door-to-door collection and after the Councilor for the Environment of the Municipality of Rome had invited citizens to moderate use of gift boxes during the Christmas period in order to generate a less waste, I think that the decision to remove the bins is a coherent photograph of the confusion in waste management that reigns both in the XV Municipality and in the Municipality of Rome ”.
Hence the request of theimmediate restoration of the removed bins or, alternatively, “that users who have been deprived of it are immediately supported by a collection service door to door" (Rome Today).
