Ungulates dangerously close
The invasion of wild boars is a problem that affects Piedmont like many other regions of our country. In particular, in Valsesia (the valley that occupies the northern part of the province of Vercelli) the emergency is much more felt: the ungulates are getting dangerously close to homes and the damage can no longer be counted.
Illegal risk
Alex Rotta, mountain councilor of the Unione Montana Valsesia, clarified what is happening: "We must not fall into the temptation to take up the rifle because hunting has been closed since January 31st and therefore an offense would be committed, obviously punishable by law . It now seems to be a fact that in recent years wild boars have formed larger herds where adult individuals come together to protect the more fragile ones, especially the little ones."
How to behave
Rotta then added: “The correct way to resolve the situation is to contact the competent authority, i.e. the Province of Vercelli which is responsible for monitoring wildlife. On the Provincial website, citizens can find the appropriate forms to use to report the damage suffered due to the presence of wild boars and request containment measures".
