A few hours ago the topic was discussed with an appeal launched by Italian Federation of Hunting and by 'ATC Salinello which induced optimism. Even in the course of the hunting season 2016-2017 the hunters of Tortoreto (in the province of Teramo) will not have the opportunity to shoot in the area of the sources of the Vessello. Francesco Tarricone, prefectural commissioner, was clear and signed an ordinance extending the ban, as also happened in 2014 and 2015.
Hunting is not allowed in this area always for the same reason, namely the danger that there would be for public safety. Indeed, close to the area there are houses, sports facilities and even an archaeological site. The commissioner had received a request to confirm the ban from some farms and from the “Paolo Priori” Nature Reserve and agreed with their complaints.
On the contrary, the joint appeal of the local Federcaccia and the Territorial Area remained unheard. In particular, five days ago there was talk of "Responsible hunters" and capable of respecting the law. In the past, the ordinance of the Municipality was challenged as illegitimate, given that such a provision should come hierarchically by the State and then by the Region and the Province (cutting out the mayor).
