Hunting Dogs: The secret is patience. Those prone to anger and nervousness shouldn't be a dog trainer for anything in the world. Animals that walk on all fours are particularly sensitive, they perceive any change in our mood and tone of voice. Deceiving them is unthinkable and counterproductive, much better sincerity, calm and patience.
Whether you are trying to train a companion dog or a hunting dog, education and respect for the owner are everything. A dog that cannot be managed is a dangerous dog for himself but above all for others. Fortunately, the four-legged friends are quite intelligent and train them, especially if you start immediately with a dog training simple but constant, it is a possible undertaking. Flying over rebellious dogs, children of misses or bad training, to obtain interesting results the secret is to start practically immediately. It is never too early to train your dog to call, and the ideal would be to do so from the very first moment in which the puppy puts his paw in the house. At the beginning all you have to do is call the puppy by name and add the command "Here"! It is important that the voice, calm and calm, is also associated with an explicit movement of the arm, which mimics in no uncertain terms the movement we want our dog to perform.
The dog can socialize with the command practically at any time: when he is at home that he is curious about his things, when he is in the garden, when we want to get out of the car, the important thing is that at least at the beginning the dog is in a closed place. Distractions, and there are so many of them outside, always complicate things.
The first steps. It is important that the dog is called firmly but without the tone of the voice being altered for any reason. If the puppy does not respond immediately to the command, which is quite probable, it is good to continue, from time to time with the call. If he is at home or in the garden, in short, in an indoor place, sooner or later he will have to listen to you. At that point the dog is necessarily to be rewarded with some delicious morsels and with some "Bravo". The praise should not be wasted, they must be used when they are really deserved, we certainly do not want them to lose value, do we? In this phase of the training it is good, with a little forcing, to force the dog to sit in front of us. It can be done with a slight pressure on its back: it will be a rather important teaching to which it is good to submit the dog right away. It will come in handy when we need to put him on a leash, during retrieval training and in a host of other cases. Once the dog has obeyed, all that remains is to grant him the well-deserved freedom. The simplest and most effective command is the very common “Go”.
Voice but not only. The command "Go" the dog understands it practically immediately and flies away. At that point you have to put your authority back into play and call him back. Always maintain a balanced tone of voice or help with a whistle but also with sounds. The "PSST" is particularly useful for hunters in the field. They do not disturb the game present on the site and are able to remain in communication with their own animal. What matters is always associating the call with a gesture of the arm or hand: the dog must hear us but also look. No threats, screams or agitation if the dog does not respond; this is the time to bring out all the patience you have. Insist on the call until the dog returns to the base and touches your hands. Followed by the caresses of the case, the more than deserved prize and again the command "Go".
Outdoors without haste. As long as you are indoors, the distractions for dogs are few and not very intense. Things change when you decide to take him out, perhaps in a park or in a training camp. The advice in that case is to opt, at the beginning at least, for a large but still fenced environment. The stimuli will increase dramatically and even your self control will have to act accordingly. The tone of the call must always be the same, verbal and physical rewards must not be missing when the dog returns to you, followed by the usual "Go". Remember to play this game not too long. Stop training before the pet gets bored, at which point the session would become useless. Outdoors, as we have said, dogs often let themselves be distracted by the wind, by smells, by game, by people: in short, it happens that they do not respond to our calls. If you have not tried them all, but no technique seems to work to your advantage, all you have to do is wait for its return. Much better if hidden behind a bush, a tree, a stone: you will not lose sight of your animal even for a second, but he, after running around, will decide to return to you and not finding you where he left you will be taken by the anxiety to find yourself, from the fear of abandonment. When he finds you, and he will soon sniff your tracks, reward him with caresses, treats and compliments. This little trick is quite useful for strengthening the relationship between owner and four-legged friend.
No deception. We close by saying that, although appetizing, deceptions of various kinds are of no use in the training phase. They work once, twice, but in the long run the dog realizes the situation, becomes more suspicious and that relationship of trust that you are doing everything to create is jeopardized.
