Season closing
After the titles of the highest category and the Ladies, Junior, Veterans and Masters Qualifications, the Italian Olympic Pit closes the 2022 season by assigning the championships of the First, Second and Third Category. In total, 301 finalists were divided into the three plants identified by the Federal Council to host the Tricolore races.
The place of the competition
First Category shooters competed at Tav Montecatini Pieve a Nievole. After the 125 qualifying targets, the best six competed in the final, held with the ISSF formula in force until last year. To deserve the highest honors was Stefano Pennoni from Umbertide (PG), who returned to the sextet of the best with the playoff and the score of 116/125 +1 and then reached the top of the podium with 40/50. Behind him the silver was earned by Vincenzo Messina of San Procopio (RC) who, after having closed the qualifiers with 121/125 and the first provisional place, gave the Umbrian a hard time in the final, but stopped on the place of honor with 39/50. Third on the podium Paolo Angelini of Villa Castelli (BR) with 117/125 and 29/40.
The Second Category podium
As for the Second Category, on the platform at Tav Conselice (RA), Carlo Vinci of Villa Castelli (BR), leader of the two phases of the competition with 2022/117 in qualifying and 125/23 in the final, earned the 25 championship which brought it to a total of 140/150. To award the silver and bronze it was necessary a play-off between three matched shooters at an altitude of 137/150. In the end, Andrea De Paoli from Calcinato (BS) deserved second place with +4, while Dario Bolognesi from Borgano Torinese (TO) with +3 took the third place.
The third category podium
Finally, as regards the Third Category, the platforms of the Tav La Torre di Crespina Lorenzana (PI) crowned Daniele Bertolini from Brentonico (TN) as Italian Champion, who climbed to the top of the podium with 114/125 in qualifying and a perfect 25/25 in the final. Also in this case the other two places on the podium were assigned after a play-off with three shooters reaching a total of 138/150. After the shoot-off, the silver went to the neck of Paolo Cardinali from Anagni (FR) with +3 and the bronze to that of Massimo Chiarenza from Riposto (CT) with +2.
