The ringing station Mouth of Caset, in the province of Trento, has entrusted, as usual, to his own Facebook account the latest updates on their activities: "We were about to write that here in Caset the migration continues with its usual rhythms, marked by the arrival of first short-range migrants, like robins and siskins, and the irruptive movements of the tits, when in our nets it is finished… a bee-eater! This colorful bird, never ringed in 30 years of activity, is known for its predilection for aculeat insects, such as bees, bumblebees and hornets.
For some years the range of this species, nesting in a good part of southern Europe and the Middle East, has been constantly expanding, with sightings at latitudes and altitudes never recorded before. And while the numbers in the North increase, the historic colonies seem to show some signs of suffering ”.
