Almost three months later the ringing and monitoring station "Mouth of Caset" recorded the closing of its 2017 season: the last bird has gone and the nets have been dismantled, but what is the balance of these weeks? The property is located near Monte Tremalzo, more precisely in the Municipality of Ledro, in the province of Trento.
The last few days have been characterized by a new capture that has enriched the list of ringed species in this area of Trentino Alto Adige. It was a male specimen of Verdone, which led to 82 the overall share. His passage to the station was by no means taken for granted, taking into account the typical altitudes at which he flies (low and medium) and the height of Bocca di Caset (1600 meters).
The last bird ever before the closure was a siskin. The start of the season had happened last August 1st: on that occasion it began with a Coal Tit born in the year. The Bocca di Caset station has officially existed since 1993 as a permanent structure for monitoring post-nuptial migration in Trentino.
