Families in need
From Monday the most needy Pisan families will be able to consume the meat of San Rossore, in particular that deriving from the programmed wildlife management operations carried out by the Park Guards. The initiative sees a series of actors in action: the Tuscany Region which finances the slaughtering operations assigned through public tender to the Sant'Ubaldo farm, the North West Tuscany Local Health Authority, the Park which supplies the heads of wild ungulates, the Banco Alimentare which distributes throughout the reference ASL territory and in Pisa Caritas which, through the solidarity emporium, makes it available to those who need it most.
Scientific monitoring
In fact, in San Rossore ungulates are supernumerary and their population must be contained to maintain a healthy balance with the flora. The wolf helps but alone is not enough, and while waiting for the sterilization experimentation, the Guards periodically take a precise number of items defined on the basis of specific scientific monitoring. These meats, very lean and healthy, are made available to the most disadvantaged people of the whole territory, with particular attention to Pisa.
Solidarity project
«The solidarity emporium is accessed by families in difficulty who are given a card with a number of points that depends on the income and the family quotient - explains Don Morelli - furthermore our staff also gives advice on how to cook these particular types of meat". "We have joined the food solidarity project of the Tuscany Region - explains the president of the Park Lorenzo Bani - in order to help the families who are most in need by guaranteeing a healthy and quality product".
