Heated debate
The Associations that make up the Control Room of the Toscana – Arci Caccia, Enalcaccia, Italcaccia and Libera Caccia regionali – have come forward regarding a species that has always created a heated debate in the hunting field, the Sacred Ibis.
Increase in area
This is their joint note: "In our Region the presence of the Sacred Ibis has reached decidedly worrying densities. This alien species has spread ubiquitously, conquering new spaces every day and increasing its range. For this reason it was included by the Administration in DGR 941 of 05/08/24, the resolution that approves the Extraordinary Control Plan for numerous species: native and alien".
Control operations
“Given the situation, we would like to suggest that the Region take action to allow for this species to be taken in derogation. A practice that would allow the control of the number of these animals thanks to hunting, “enlisting” a number of operators much greater than those who could be involved in the control operations. This would greatly increase the possibility of achieving the objectives of eradicating the species.
