Below is the press release on the main topics of the motion presented to the Regional Council of Tuscany by the Councilor Andrea Pieroni (PD). The aspects highlighted and solicited can only be widely shared by the Confederation of Tuscan Hunters which in recent days had returned to reiterate the need to speed up the discussion on the main strategic objectives concerning hunting and wildlife management in Tuscany. The motion presented by Pieroni and also signed by the Councilors Ceccarelli and Bugetti therefore represents an important contribution on the aspects mentioned.
Wildlife Plan, Pieroni (Pd) to the regional council: "Speed up the approval process and establish the Regional Wildlife Committee". “Give further impetus to the process of approval of the new Regional Hunting Wildlife Plan in order to provide Tuscany, as soon as possible, with an adequate planning tool with which to establish guidelines and objectives of regional policies on the subject; in the meantime, establish the Regional Scientific Committee on wildlife, as recently introduced by art. 5 of Regional Law 61/2020, also for the purpose of effective and qualified support in the matters covered by the Regional Hunting Wildlife Plan ".
These are the commitments entrusted to the regional council by a motion presented by the director Pd Andrea Pieroni and also signed, among others, by the group leader Vincenzo Ceccarelli and by the president of the economic and rural development commission, Ilaria Bugetti. "I think it is very appropriate - explains Pieroni - to arrive at the approval of the new regional hunting plan as soon as possible, in order to allow a wildlife-hunting management that protects agriculture and the environmental equilibrium of our territory given the considerable and no longer bearable damage to agricultural crops, exacerbated in the period of the pandemic which involved, like many economic and social activities, also the interruption of hunting activities, causing the increase of ungulates on the regional territory.
A plan that must be shared with all interested parties and incorporate those ideas that have already emerged from a first confrontation, the one that took place with the Regional Hunting Conference held in June 2019 in Grosseto and which represented a qualifying moment of renewed cohesion between the various subjects present representing the institutions, del hunting world, of the agricultural and environmental world. On that occasion - continues Pieroni - a final document was drawn up which outlined a series of objectives for the coming years and which it will be appropriate to take into account in terms of planning activities, governance, system sustainability, meat supply chain, regulatory framework and enhancement of volunteering. Meanwhile - concludes the regional councilor - also with the aim of a more effective drafting and implementation of the regional hunting plan, it is appropriate that the Wildlife Scientific Committee, which will be able to provide a qualified contribution in faunal matters and in the analysis of the dynamics of populations of wild fauna species on the regional territory ".
