Il Natural Park of Migliarino, San Rossore, Massaciuccoli, which is located in the provinces of Pisa and Lucca, approved the plan for the management of wild boar and fallow deer in its own territory, an increasingly threatening presence. Farmers have to cope with the destroyed crops, consequently the park authority has also given the green light for compensation of 70 thousand euros.
The last year the refunds had taken place was 2011, a financial operation made possible by the consolidation of the budget. The operational plan is very ambitious and aims to reduce the total number of ungulates. By the end of 2018 more than 3 thousand fallow deer and about 500 wild boars should be killed, thus curbing the increase in fauna and avoiding as much as possible any situation of conflict. For the realization, the territory of the Pisan park was divided into eight areas separated by very specific boundaries.
One of the main areas in which to intervene is that of Camp Darby, with an altitude of 900 fallow deer and 50 wild boar to be precise. Another 1600 fallow deer and 200 wild boar will then be taken from the San Rossore estate, without forgetting the area near the Cisam (300 fallow deer). Finally, the killing will be carried out by the staff of the Tuscan park and by other people from outside firms.
