For twenty-one years the European Chioccolo Championship gives the right luster to the imitation of birdsong. It is a fundamental cultural meeting that has as its seat the Mediterranean basin. In 2018 it was decided to focus on Alcanar, a town in central Spain where you can admire well-preserved artistic treasures. The twenty-first edition featured a very high competitive level, so much so that the jury found itself in serious difficulty in choosing the winners.
There were four categories, that is "Tordo Bottaccio - Grive Musicienne - Zorzal Comun", "Tordo Sassello - Grive Mauvis - Zorzal Malviz", "Merle Noir - Mirlo Comun" e "Different". The trophy was won by the hosts, but the awards went to other nations as well. In particular, in the category "Tordo Sassello" Italy excelled with Paolo Pasqualetti: our country also prevailed among the "Diverse" thanks to Claudio Pin.
The Italian delegation was led by Maurizia Salton representing the Pro Sacile and by Umberto Carcò, editor of the annual brochure of these events. The thanks for the organization (defined as "perfect") went to Alfons Montserrat Esteller, mayor of Alcanar, without forgetting the community and the APAVAL (Asociació de Paranyers - Valencia, Cataluña, Aragón y Baleare).
