A heterogeneous audience
The conference on Ecoradars organised by the two FIdC ACMA Marche sectors in collaboration with UCIM was a great success. Monte San Vito (Ancona), Saturday, February 15. It was, in the presence of a heterogeneous audience – from students of the local middle school to scholars of the sector, to various local and regional politicians – an important opportunity to lay the foundations for a potential application of ecological radar in Italy, as has been happening in France for some years.
Valuable data
Ecoradars, as explained by the main speaker, Eng. Alberto Mellano, are capable of intercepting migratory flows of birds, with great accuracy, providing useful data for management purposes. The president of ACMA Marche Graziano Federici subsequently illustrated the key points where it would be appropriate to install these technologies.
Sustainable withdrawal
These locations are well targeted and are the result of the experiences of hunters and wildlife technicians who know the main migration routes well. Their application could be useful for quantitative analyses of flows also in relation to a sustainable harvest of both huntable species and wild animals in derogation. A new technology that we hope will be added to the many currently used, improving the understanding of the dynamics of wild populations so as to be useful to the hunting world. (UCIM Press Office)
