The Plzen Grand Prix, the shooting championship in which the young Italians in their first international experience distinguished themselves with important results.
Last Sunday 13 January the Plzen Grand Prix ended, the two days of competitions at 10m with important results from our representative who lined up all young people in their first international experience, (excluding only the now expert Barbara Gambaro who passed this year in the category Women). In addition to their opponents, our standard bearers also had to fight against the tension and emotion for the debut in the national team that accompanied them during all their tests. The Plzen race was also the first appointment to compete with the new ISSF rules, in particular the approach with the new race times and the "start form 0" in the final which reserved several surprises: just think that the first day no qualifying winner has managed to take home the final victory.
The first to pass the qualification with 391 was Barbara Gambaro: the shooter of the Oro flames was unable to manage the race in the best possible way, going out first and thus collecting an eighth place. Regret on the first day for Martina Ziviani who, closing her performance with an "8" for a total of 391, did not enter the final only for the mouche difference.
The young shooter from Cerea, however, did not lose heart and the next day she showed all her character as a doc fighter by qualifying in second place with 395. In the final, all the scores eliminated, with a great show of pride she did see his great skills managing to fire all 20 shots without being eliminated, thus confirming the second qualifying place.
Excellent performances also by Maria Schiava who closed her race on the first day with 388, while the second with 391 was unable to access the final only for the difference in mouches. Among the men, Patrik Marino from Lucca led two races as a seasoned champion, finishing in the lead on the first day with 589 and in fourth place the second with 587. The approach to the final must be improved for him where he was unable to go beyond the seventh place on both occasions.
The youngest of the group, the fourteen-year-old Marco Suppini from Vergato, paid dearly for the excitement at his debut by closing with a 574. On the second day, however, Marco managed to enter the eighth final with 584 giving his best, pulling up a shot. shot without ever making big smears and dominating the emotion in the best way: in the final he won a double shoot off (10,3 and 10,9) when third place was awarded and managed to finish in second place preceded only by much more experienced than him, the Hungarian Pèni.
