As anticipated byENCI, the official cinofilia is moving to support the Kennel Club of Ukraine and its breeders. The FCI press release is shown in full, shared at the end of the extraordinary meeting of 27.2.2022, on the crisis that has hit the friends of Ukraine. “The FCI and its General Committee officially condemn the invasion of Ukraine by the armed forces of the Russian Federation. This conflict and this aggression cannot leave anyone indifferent and we all feel worried, sad and angry.
The invasion of Ukraine by the Russian army has also put entire families of our dog community in complete danger. This war has put our farmers at risk and their dogs, directly threatening their well-being and their lives. Many have had to flee, others survive in precarious conditions, hiding in shelters where food and basic necessities are becoming very scarce. But yet, in these terrible and difficult times, they have not abandoned their dogs! These horrific circumstances contradict the written priorities and recommendations on the welfare of the FCI, as well as our policy and our goals.
The situation led the FCI General Committee to hold an extraordinary meeting on Sunday 27 February 2022. Important decisions have been made, within the legal limits of the FCI and its General Committee, on the basis of the Constitution and General Regulations of the FCI. From 1 March 2022, and until further notice, the Russian Cynological Federation (RKF) will not be able to carry out - on Russian territory - any event in which FCI titles or prizes are awarded (expo with CACIB, tests with CACIT, competitions with CACIAG, etc.).
In order to give the opportunity to our member countries / contract partners and to any other person of express their solidarity and help to the Ukrainian people, to its dog lovers / breeders / dog owners, the FCI will open a bank account, specifically for this purpose, where all donations are welcome and will be forwarded, with full transparency, to help the Ukrainian Kennel Union (UKU) and Ukrainian farmers badly affected by the war and in dire need, who live in Ukraine or have fled to neighboring countries. The FCP will make a substantial contribution to this fund. Further details will be communicated in the days to come. The FCI is a large community, a united and strong family, therefore let's all stand up and show our solidarity for Ukraine! (The members of the FCI General Committee) "
