It was one of those days that are never forgotten, Sunday 21 July on top of the Acera mountain, in "Clitunno" dog training area, two fingers from the sky and in the partridge sanctuary. This was, for the second consecutive year, the ideal theater to host the Second Memorial Fabrizio Cardarelli, the professor mayor hunter lover of English pointing dogs who tragically died on 10 December 2017. The protagonists, as mentioned, were the partridges, present in large numbers with eight brigades as well as some couples and isolated individuals. All this has given rise to a myriad of encounters, including stops, guides, consents, flights and chases.
This was yesterday, and will continue to be for the future, the Monte Ranne Trophy - Fabrizio Cardarelli Memorial, consecrated by the participation in the awards ceremony of his wife Emanuela and his son Carlo, already present last year. A whirlwind of emotions, both canine and, above all, human, characterized the day, organized by the sections of Federcaccia Spoleto and Campello and by the migratory Anuu section of Campello. At the center of the event, as it should have been, the figure of the professor, in love with pointing dogs and woodcock hunting, protagonist of the splendid painting awarded to the very young English setter Arretium Vetar, by and led by Ercole Testaguzza, who only 10 months of age he has made himself the author of an Excellent Quarter with an action worthy of the best expert sneezing dogs.
The Queen painted in the picture is portrayed in the moment of fledging, in a whirlwind of twigs and dry maple leaves that rise from the ground under the beats of the archer's wing. A scene that, lived live, stops the heart of the dog hunter for a moment; a scene that the professor has witnessed hundreds of times in his life, and which therefore fixes the memory indelibly in everyone's hearts. Coming to the 2019 Trophy, 27 pointing dogs presented themselves in front of the judges Giovanni Pioppi and Roberto Onori: the English setter Idra dominated, also led by Testaguzza, author of two very valuable points that earned her the First Excellent ; to follow the English setter of Agliani and then the pointer Illa of the very young Pompili, just 18 years old; fourth the aforementioned Arretium Vetar; fifth the English setter Joe di Partenzi and sixth another English setter, Orazio di Ubaldi. Another moment of strong emotion came when Borg, a majestic pointer led by Novello Bocci, was crowned as the best representative of the breed.
Borg was Fabrizio Cardarelli's dog, and as such was announced by the judges in the general commotion. The professor won anyway. Best English setter Rocky by Aglaini was recognized while best young, needless to say, Arretium Vetar by Testaguzza. Among the continentals victory of the epagneul breton Charlie of Fortunati, followed by the kurzhaar Zagor of Baratti. Numerous prizes, certificates and very rich shopping vouchers for all dogs in the ranking. The day of dog lovers ended, as tradition dictates, with a snack-lunch all together in the mountains, at the Monte Maggiore refuge, in the heart of the dog training area. Sharing means first of all growing culturally: this is one of the main objectives set by the Campello sul Clitunno sections of Federcaccia and Anuu and the Spoleto section of Federcaccia. See you next year with the Monte Ranne Trophy - Fabrizio Cardarelli Memorial.
