Last summer's proposals
“We express satisfaction given that many of our proposals announced this summer have been implemented by the regional councilor Morroni and included in the adaptation of the regional regulation '34/1999' on wild boar hunting”. Thus the councilor of the League, Manuela Puletti together with her party colleague Valerio Mancini. “Most of the changes contained in the Councilor's proposal – they observe – are the same ones that we had already presented to various teams in the Ternano, Folignate and Upper Tiber Valleys this summer. Through these innovations - they explain - hunting of the wild boar species will be improved, also providing an answer to the problems complained of in particular by small teams, those most in difficulty. The joint efforts, from this point of view, are very important."
The delays that leave a bad taste in the mouth
“We regret, however – complain Puletti and Mancini – for the late approval of the regulation that the Councilor brought to the Council a few days ago and which, due to a domino effect, will lead to the effective entry into force of the new season rules already well forwarded. In the same way - they continue - we would have expected greater involvement, especially on such an important issue, of the hunting associations and the presidents of the ATC, because then it is increasingly difficult to make decisions if one does not communicate with those who deal with the animals on a daily basis. damage caused by ungulates or with the potential spread of swine fever".
A territory to be divided
“In what appears to be a rather positive picture of the new regulations, the League – they point out – is asking for a further modification, which could contribute substantially to limiting the excessive presence of wild boars. Necessary - they explain - would be a division of the regional territory into three areas, in light of monitoring the real presence of wild boars. Identify suitable areas, where the task of hunting and land management is entrusted to the teams; the white areas, open to multiple forms of hunting; the removal areas, where the particular quality of the crops or the presence of roads and other road infrastructures requires the eradication of the species with the turning, selection and containment, while a more detailed treatment is required to regulate the hunting of the individual" . “We do not set ourselves up as holders of the truth – conclude Puletti and Mancini –, ours are simple proposals, developed on the basis of meetings held in the territories. The hope is that already tomorrow in the Third Commission more points of view will be able to find a synthesis in the interest of the territory" (source: Regional Council of Umbria).
