Arci Caccia Nazionale e Arci Caccia Umbria they are in harmony and full agreement and support of the Unesco World Biosphere Reserve of Monte Peglia. Arci Caccia Umbria immediately joined the Promoting Committee for recognition as a Unesco Biosphere Reserve of the Mount Peglia, and to the profound innovative perspectives of which the Project born from below and without any public support was an expression. Today the World Reserve of Monte Peglia is a reality that brings important added values to the territories and to Umbria and the whole of Italy, and the path through which it was established must fill everyone with pride.
The Mab Unesco World Reserves, a worldwide network of extraordinary value, about seven hundred around the world, of which Umbria is now a part, consider the balance of the territories in the first place and among them hunting is element of land and landscape management. We hunters feel we are guardians - and not owners - of biodiversity and wildlife heritage, the good of the whole community. We fully support the proposal of the President of the Unesco Reserve Avv. Francesco Paola and the work of the study group on hunting and sustainable hunting e the projects that we can all carry out together. Our thinking is convinced.
And we look to a future of ever greater integration of hunting with the dynamics of government of the agro-forestry-pastoral territory which are proposed in a balanced relationship between the human activities foreseen in the Peglia World Reserve and elsewhere and the best harmony with the activities that take place in the neighboring areas. Abandoned areas can also be overcome with the added value that comes from protection and natural production of wildlife. All this makes it possible to shift, in the interest of communities, energy and human resources from "environmental consumerism" to sustainable and shared management models that are now an indisputable necessity, where the "regulator" is committed to guaranteeing the richness and presence of wild and plant species for future generations. Sustainable hunting and hunters who are the custodians of the territory will always be indispensable for Umbria and Italy, and with the Unesco Reserve more effective and more aware.
