Deep disappointment
Through the Askanews press agency, the undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Patrizio La Pietra tried to reassure the hunting world after the latest rumors on the withdrawal of the amendments relating to hunting in the Senate. Here are his words: “The government's attention towards hunting activity has always been there and will continue to be there. Controversies in the world of hunting have never been lacking and, unfortunately, it is sad to remember that they have always produced more damage than results, but in particular those concerning the withdrawal of some amendments to the Agriculture Decree require clarity on the government's actions" .
The reason for the withdrawal
La Pietra added: “The fact that the amendments were deemed not to be homogeneous with the content of the Agriculture Legislative Decree does not in any way prejudice the process of the Legislative Decree presented to the Chamber, which aims to amend Law 157/92, hoped for and requested for some time by hunting associations".
The optimism of La Pietra
“In particular, those among our colleagues who are now tearing their clothes and talking about betrayal – explains La Pietra – should know well that the passage in question was instead a further element that testifies to the desire to accelerate, through a decree, the entry into force of these two points, which would become law in sixty days. Instead - continues La Pietra - of creating divisions that weaken the hunting world, I would suggest seeing how useful we are trying to do for hunters, who have never before been treated with due respect and recognition, also in light of their precious commitment in combating spread of African swine fever on Italian territory. An active contribution that the government not only does not deny, but has highlighted its value on every occasion", concludes the undersecretary.
