Piana's words
Green light in Regional Council, on the proposal of the vice president with responsibility for Agriculture and Hunting Alessandro Piana, to the new organization of ungulate depopulation activities. “To intensify the actions on the territory – explains the vice president Alessandro Piana – we have commissioned the Territorial Hunting Areas (ATC) with all hunters in possession of a rifle port, insurance and training on biosecurity, to organize and implement the depopulation activities growing on wild boars in restricted areas I (the municipalities bordering the infected area) and areas II (those belonging to the infected area), in agreement with the Region and the competent ASL, according to current legislation and under the direction of the Commissioner Extraordinary Caputo.
The division of the territory
All this taking into account the subdivision of the territory into hunting areas and the composition of the teams in force in the 2022/2023 hunting season, while specific agreements will be arranged with the competent regional authority for non-hunting areas in case of need, it being understood that, in urban areas and protected areas, the interventions of the regional wildlife-environmental supervisory unit will continue.
Wildlife and health control
The foremen and the ATCs will undertake to calibrate and report on a weekly basis to the Region the amount of the daily sampling based on the indications communicated by the authorities in charge of wildlife and health control. This is to promote maximum transparency and to be able to promptly respond to the health needs of the ASF and public safety" (source: Liguria Region).
