Excellent scores
On Sunday 28th September, 90 athletes divided into 15 teams, representing as many Italian regions, took to the platforms of the Tav delle Alpi (VC) to compete in the competition which decreed the new Regional Champions of the "five-machine" specialty. The competitive level of the shooters in the competition proved to be very high, and in addition to translating into excellent scores for each team, in most cases the rankings were determined by slim margins: evidenced by the maximum distance of two clays between the top five teams with the highest scores.
The various steps of the podiums
Pinning the Italian flag to their chest and winning the coveted Regions Trophy was the Lombardy sextet led by Regional Delegate Daniele Ghelfi, selected by Gaspare Guzzo and Pier Bestetti, composed of Marco Molteni, Paolo Frigerio, Rachele Amighetti, Graziano Borlini, Sergio Sanzogni and Roberto Favalli, who scored 544/600. In second place was the Veneto team, led by Regional Delegate Adriano Lonardi and made up of Luciano Fiorini Carbognin, Alessandro Camisotti (both of whom were responsible for the group's formation), Gianni Brunato, Marco Carli, Giuliano Pastorin and Giovanna Borghi, who took the silver medal with 543/600.
Big celebrations
On the third step of the podium, holding the bronze medal, was the Sicilian team led by Regional Delegate Michele Sollami—Vincenzo Triscari, Maurizio Annaloro, Stefano Covato, Luca Baldo Annaloro, Francesco Pollicino, and Antonino Buda—who finished with a score of 541/600. Celebrating their medal was Federal Councilor Adriano Avveduto, as the team's selector and coach (source: FITAV).
