The Aosta Valley hunting choice
The Forza Italia council group voted with conviction in favor of the motion that restores the hunting of ptarmigan and variable hare, approved today, Wednesday 5 October 2022, by Valle Council. In particular, the Directors Mauro Baccega and Pierluigi Marquis highlight some parts of the text: "The purpose ofhunting activity is aimed at preserving all the living wildlife within the Valle d'Aosta territory, with censuses that are carried out in spring by the hunters and as a result of the controlled abatement plans; there is the presence of documentation in the Department dating back to 2020 where it is emphasized that the two species are absolutely not threatened by the risk of extinction and that to maintain the species, sampling plans had already been established, however reduced, and that the two species are included in the list of huntable species pursuant to regional law 64/1994, which regulates the protection and management of wildlife and regulates hunting activities. "
The motion proposed
"After the three years that have passed since the approval of the motion of November 7, 2019 - specify the Directors -, a motion that committed the Regional Council to suspend the hunt for ptarmigan and variable hare and which gave rise to the subsequent resolution of the council which effectively suspended this type of hunting, we believe that we can reopen and make it possible to hunt ptarmigan and hare varabile, inserting them in the hunting calendar. The hope is that action will be taken immediately, even with an immediate modification of the hunting calendar. "
Passion for hunting
And they conclude: "From the comparison we had with many people who have this hunting passion, which is part of the culture and passion of many families and, above all, of the mountain populations but not only, we shared the need to work on a reinterpretation of the regional law 64/1994 and hunting regulations.
