The confrontation with the councilor
During the last few months Alessandro Beduschi, Councilor for Agriculture of the Lombardy Region, met with the mayors of the Valli del Lario and Ceresio and Lario Intelvese mountain communities to take stock of the issue deer and wild boar. The problem is deeply felt in these parts and the Lombardy Region has ensured that the solutions implemented will be more effective (in particular by intensifying the abatement plans).
Swine fever and devastated fields
As far as wild boar is concerned, sampling will also have to be intensified to curb the emergency caused by African swine fever. The objective is above all to help local farmers and breeders who, due to ungulates, see their fields and meadows damaged, as well as literally turned upside down.
Pian of Spain
Finally, in relation to deer, the problem is numerical. One of the areas most affected is that of the Pian di Spagna reserve, where these animals number around 500, without forgetting the Lago di Piano reserve which has hundreds more. The withdrawal plans implemented so far have been found to be insufficient, therefore they will need to be intensified anyway.
