There is always a first time for everything. Evidently the Umbrian hunting federation, together with its provincial and municipal sections of Perugia, are no exception, at least judging by the marks left by the "visit" that some activists of theAlf (Animal Liberation Front) they reserved last night for seat of our federation. The content of the message, delivered by means of a red spray can, is more than eloquent, and does nothing but confirm what we already knew: "These subjects - declared the presidents of Federcaccia Umbra and of the two provincial sections of Perugia and Terni, Giovanni Selvi, Marcello Spigarelli and Giulio Piccioni - do not belong to the group of those who can be considered interlocutors not only in the hunting, agricultural and environmental world, but in any social context.
A civil community cannot accept vandalism and insults as a form of ideological struggle". The Alf is an international organization not new to such acts, as can be easily learned with a quick tour on the net. The writings on the walls or on the windows represent the "minimum wage" to which these self-styled animal lovers go: devastation of companies, "liberations" of farm animals destined for certain death once out of context in which they were born, insults, threats.
In Perugia they had never attempted an action of this kind, but as mentioned above: there is always a first time. Federcaccia Umbra and all its provincial and municipal sections will continue, as is the case with over a hundred years, in their work of safeguarding the environment and correct biodiversity through the programmed management of the territory, aware of the fact that true environmentalism, true love for animals - of all animals - is manifested through study, knowledge, habitat improvements and systematic interaction and concrete with nature and certainly not, as perhaps the Alf activists think, with vandalism, proclamations, insults and other amenities that do not fall within the category of civil life.
