Hunting in Veneto and sanctioning rules for those who disturb hunters. Faced with the objections raised by the opposition and the threats received online, the Veneto regional councilor Sergio Berlato (Fdi-An-Mcr) defended today, in a press conference at Palazzo Ferro-Fini, the draft law 182, relating to "Regional rules on disturbance to the exercise ofhunting activity and piscatoria ".
«There were - explains Berlato - some aspects exploited, but it is enough to read the law to understand that the sanctions provided do not affect children who walk in the fields or those who take a bike ride, but those who intentionally commit acts of obstruction. And I stress that only police officers can apply the rule, evaluating the intentionality or otherwise of the action ».
"Without prejudice to - he continues - the possibility of expressing one's opposition within the limits of the law, just as hunting and fishing is lawful if exercised within these limits, the objective of this law is very clear: to intervene on documented actions on the internet, where groups of criminals, who have nothing to do with environmentalists, often act against isolated subjects, not just verbally ».
Berlato recalled that there are laws already approved, as in Lombardy, Liguria and France, which treat the phenomenon in a similar way "and probably other regions will be added, because there are extreme environmental groups, which carry out violence with real incursions.
“The choice to apply an administrative sanction - he added - is due to the fact that, in our country, justice is not perfect and the criminal sanction for private violence in these cases is never effective. By replacing it with an administrative sanction, legal certainty is restored ».
The councilor has rejected the accusations that the third commission, which he chaired, deals only with hunting. "Out of 113 dismissed measures - he said - only eight, 5 on hunting and 3 on fishing, concern these topics: it is 7%, even if it is about issues that often arouse irrational passion that create sensationalism".
