Hunting: Veneto, a successful meeting on national and European regulations held yesterday in Venice in the name of full sharing on the problems to be solved.
“The meeting that I strongly wanted with Hunting Associations, Provinces and Presidents of the Territorial Areas of Hunting took place under the banner of full sharing on the main problems to be solved and a clear desire to join efforts by rejecting positions of mere speculation. I will do everything to ensure that many positive fruits can come from these positive premises ". Thus the Councilor for Hunting of the Veneto Region comments on the results of the meeting on the application of hunting regulations on the territory held in the Region, which was attended by numerous representatives of the hunting and institutional world, with topics on the agenda " sensitive "such as hunting calendar, hunting in derogation, stalking, planning.
“The Region has no responsibility if its acts are systematically challenged by environmentalists - said the commissioner - on the contrary, given the results of the appeals on the hunting calendar all favorable to us, it must be recognized that it has been done well. There is no doubt that the restrictive constraints imposed by the European Union, where our MEPs must make themselves heard to support the sacrosanct expectations of our hunters, create many problems: having to defend the TAR every time takes away time, money and energy, taking away serenity. to the proper conduct of the hunting season ".
“During the meeting - adds the commissioner - a great sense of responsibility emerged on the part of the national hunting associations, the only ones able to take on a cultural path that overcomes localisms, fractures, speculations. We must aim to assert our reasons on a technical-scientific basis, multiplying our efforts to acquire all necessary scientific support ”.
“For many years - he added - someone thought of solving the problems by making demonstrations and raising their voices, but in this way it was possible to increase the distance between hunters and the entire community, often influenced by environmentalist obsessions. We had to give a different image of the hunter, who certainly has the right to play a game bag, but who above all aspires to see his ability to support a sustainable development of the environments in which he carries out his activity recognized, making himself credible, for management skills and seriousness. , in the eyes of all the social components ". During the meeting, the national hunting associations demonstrated that it is possible to work in a different way and that the effort to share decisions and strategies, put in place by the Region in recent years, goes in the right direction.
"Promoting research, yes, this is an absolute imperative" underlines the commissioner ". “Unfortunately - he concludes - the inversion of the burden of proof implies that the sustainability of hunting in its various expressions must be demonstrated. And if ISPRA cannot or does not want to help the Regions in pursuing the defense of hunting traditions in a context of technical-scientific sustainability, then we will have to take care of it, all together. On these issues I will return to confront the territory as early as the next few weeks, during which I will organize a series of meetings at the provincial level to acquire observations, criticisms and proposals from the Alpine Districts.
