Roe deer hunting: Genoa, the Province appeals to the Council of State against the sentence of the TAR which blocked the drawing of the Roe deer which should have started on June 1st.
The TAR cancels the act that regulates the selection of roe deer hunting and the Province of Genoa appeals to the Council of State. "Because the roe deer harvesting plan - says commissioner Piero Fossati - is absolutely sustainable, respectful of all current regulations, conservative and without damage to the species which in this territory has a density of 43 animals per square kilometer of wooded areas , the highest in the whole Ligurian Apennines, even equal to or higher than that of gazelles and antelopes in the Serengeti, the African sanctuary of herbivores! ". The TAR accepted the appeal against the provision of the Province for the selective collection of roe deer by the VAS (Verdi Ambiente e Società) association, which contested the absence of the Ispra opinion to the local Genoese body, the omission of the prohibition to use lead ammunition and to have approved the act in the absence of a wildlife hunting plan in force. Given that "The act canceled by the TAR - says Piero Fossati - refers to a hunting period that has already ended two months ago, since the phases established by the state and regional regulations for the selection hunt for deer have been concluded" the Province has appealed to the Council of State "Because our body, despite having already stipulated a specific and rigorous protocol with Ispra, on the basis of which all the indications of Ispra itself are incorporated in the provisions for the management and collection of cervids, before the issuing of the Tar sentence however proceeded to ask Ispra for a reasoned opinion with respect to the proposed withdrawal plan and the opinion was largely positive ".
Secondly "the Province, with a specific act, always before the judgment on the merits of the Administrative Court, complied with the indications of the TAR on lead ammunition and finally, it amply motivated the fact that the wildlife hunting plan approved by the Provincial Council in 2003 is still fully in force pursuant to regional law 29/94 and that the Province is proceeding with the updating and revision of the plan itself, respecting the envisaged procedure. by industry regulations. "
The sampling plans for roe deer "are established - explains Fossati - on the basis of a series of censuses and are largely conservative because the density of these deer has been ascertained and the number of specimens that can be collected without affecting their populations is calculated., the Province to guarantee greater protection, then authorizes a number of culls much lower than that allowed: for a density of 40 animals per 100 hectares (one square kilometer), as in our case, Ispra authorizes up to 25 catches, while the Province allows only 10% of the animals to be taken, so only 4 per square kilometer ”.
