Guide Sensmart is a large Chinese company constantly projected towards technological innovation in the field of infrared and optoelectronics. The model TB630 is currently the flagship product in the clip-on thermal imaging line. With an infrared resolution of 640x480 pixels, based on a highly sensitive VOx sensor with a pixel pitch of just 12μ, the TB630 ensures very detailed viewing of thermal images. Thermal sensitivity of less than or equal to 20 mK allows the user to detect even the most subtle temperature differences, which is invaluable when hunting. A refresh rate of 50 Hz ensures smooth and clear moving images, displayed via a high-resolution 1920x1080 pixel AMOLED display, known not only for its brilliant image quality, but also for its low power consumption. In this regard, the TB630 is powered by two rechargeable 18650 type batteries (similar in size to AA) placed in a push-top compartment (marked “push”) on the front of the device, above the lens. Battery life is approximately 10 hours.
The device has a compact shape, perfect for placement on the front bell of the optical telescope, with dimensions of 128x79x79 mm and a weight of 440 grams (according to the company 20% less than competitors). The casing is made of magnesium and the operating keys are rubberized, raised and large, therefore easily recognizable by touch. There are not many keys. The power button is located on the roof: a long press causes on/off, a short press causes shutter compensation/reactivation/menu exit.

On the left side, the first button at the top is the menu button, marked with the letter “M”: a short press displays the quick selection/confirmation menu to save the settings, while a long press displays the main menu/exit the current menu without saving.

Directly below, the left arrow key with a short press takes a photo and changes menu options, while a long press records and changes menu options. Next to it, the right arrow key with a short press activates the quick color selection/changes menu options and with a long press exits the color menu and changes menu options.
In front of the buttons, the left focus knob rotates the eyepiece to close the focus and rotates the lens to focus farther. The right focus knob rotates the eyepiece to focus further away or rotates the lens to close the focus. Also on the right side, covered by a rubber cap, is the USB Type-C interface compartment for connecting the PC and the external screen. Above the eyepiece is a small hole that is the recording port, while the eyepiece itself has an adjustable ring to rotate to correct the white mirroring.

As it is obvious, all functions are accessible only when the device is in the startup state, including enabling a WiFi hotspot and connecting via mobile phone to the TargetIR APP, to get the real-time image of the device and access the various menus.

The use is simple and intuitive, the device is placed on the telescope using the convenient Rusan Arta 435 adapter: it is marketed by Guide distributor, Ra.sport of Manerbio (BS), together with an accessory to be applied to the eyepiece that makes the TB630 also usable as a “stand alone” instrument, to be used by holding it in your hand and looking into it.

The thermal image view is well detailed and excellently readable, of course you can choose your favorite color in the specific palette. The magnification is 1x, but it naturally makes up for it with the scope of our weapon that harmonizes perfectly with the device. Considering the quality, the price is interesting.
