Il Regional coordination of the Calabrian Hunting Territorial Areas met two days ago, Wednesday 10 February 2016, a Vibo Valentia to talk about problems concerning hunting management in the southern region. It was Federcaccia Calabria, who also explained what emerged during the meeting. The picture was described as alarming, given that the critical issues have not yet been resolved despite the commitment of the ATCs and numerous reports. In particular, this Coordination and the hunting associations of Calabria underlined the various difficulties, not least the economic, administrative and legal ones, which must be faced every day. The proposals that have been put forward, as stated in the Federcaccia press release, are the result of shared evaluations and analyzes.
The same complaint was made in other meetings at the sector bodies, without forgetting the public meetings and the notes that were sent to the Calabria Region and to the various provinces in the time period in which they were competent as far as hunting is concerned. In recent months, among other things, everything seemed ready for a substantial and fundamental modification of the regional law on the subject, an awareness gained at the end of a meeting at the Presidency of the Executive.
The Territorial Hunting Areas had shown themselves to be well disposed in this regard and the associations had explained that they wanted to provide theirs contribution for the construction of virtuous paths through concrete proposals. The promises have remained only hypotheses, indeed rumors of the opposite tenor have spread: the Region would even intend to commissioner of the ATCs, trying to convey the message that the responsibility for the alarming situation and the non-compliance in the hunting field must be attributed to them.
These attitudes must still be verified, if they were ascertained they would represent, always second Federcaccia Calabria, an unwarranted intrusiveness of regional policy. Lately, however, the Coordination has sent a joint note to the President of the Regional Council, the Head of the Cabinet and the Manager of the Hunting and Fishing Sector of Calabria, in order to highlight all these considerations, even if no type of feedback has been obtained in the face of permanent difficulties.
Management is still guaranteed with the greatest possible competence, as can be read at the end of the press release, and in a transparent and balanced way, in an attempt to fill the gaps even during the hunting season. The hunting season has ended and it is considered essential to start at this time any initiative that is necessary to allow ATCs to carry out their activities autonomously.
