The Benelli Super Black Eagle III is a semi-automatic smoothbore shotgun available in 12/89 gauge and can be used with 12/76 and 12/70 cartridges. This semi-automatic SBE 3 is powered by the Inertia Drive System, featuring a milled Ergal block receiver and a bolt action with two front rotating lugs.
The closure is with the Easy Locking Bolt system, while the steel barrel adopts the most modern Benelli technologies with cryogenic treatment Crio System, barrel available in lengths of 26 "or 28" (66 or 71cm); the weapon is also equipped with Criochoke chokes with key. This semiautomatic adopts hammer percussion with coil spring and floating percussion inside the shutter.
The SBE3 feeds from a tubular metal magazine under the barrel that can hold from 2 rounds (89 mm) to 3 rounds (76 and 70 mm) and features an Easy Loading system for easy cartridge insertion. The trigger mechanism is direct-action with a single trigger mounted on a polymer block. The trigger guard is designed for easy access to the trigger, while the cross-bolt safety is located on the cut-off.
The claw-type extractor with an internal spring is located in the bolt head, while the spring-loaded piston ejector is located in the breech cover. The sights include a ventilated carbon rib, a red fiber-optic LPA front sight, and a brass intermediate sight. The Benelli SBE3 features a two-position safety with a grooved button in the trigger guard, effectively blocking the trigger.
