The recalled products
The Rai Tre programme “Report” has examined a possible case of contamination from African swine fever which would have affected the supermarkets of the famous Lidl chain. As ascertained by the program, the company would have communicated to its stores to trace and recall some pork-based products, as they were suspicious.
End consumers
Lidl, then, would not have posted any sign to warn the final consumer, a detail confirmed by the ASL. It is worth remembering that PSA is not at all harmful to human health, but represents a danger for other animal species, pigs first and foremost. What else is known about this fact that is sparking more than one discussion?
How the virus was detected
The contamination would be related to a farm in Piedmont, a region dealing with several cases of swine fever. The pigs used for meat were sent to the slaughterhouse, then the farmer would have noticed the virus, triggering the procedures necessary in these situations.
