This year is not only bringing bad news, but also some happy surprises. The hunting world is starting to fully understand everything the usefulness of scientific research for the survival of our beloved business. For several years our association has focused on hunter training and research both to defend the hunting activity and to collaborate with the scientific community as bearers of interest for better manage the environments where we hunt and the animals we would like to take. This view of ours was also espoused by a large arms company, that is, FranchiFeelsRightItaly who decided to collaborate with us for the study of waterfowl migrations.
In the near future a dedicated web platform will be ready and managed by them, where it will be possible to constantly follow the movement of animals. For now we believe it is important in any case to keep you informed through some summary maps. In this one we are showing you, you can see how snipes have long since moved to their nesting places. Unfortunately one of them (the green one) has stopped reporting, while the others are still transmitting and have also moved to faraway places.
Recall that the transmitters used on snipe they are very small for obvious reasons and do not have a solar panel that can recharge the battery, so the transmissions only last a few months. Our goal for this species remains that of to know better the places of nesting and the times of migration, for which also this year we can be satisfied.
