An extension that has expired
Yesterday, 28 February 2023, the two-month extension of the Management Committees of the Territorial Hunting Areas (ATC) and the Alpine Districts (CA) expired after the end of their mandate in December 2022, Coldiretti Cuneo calls for the urgent installation of the new bodies, formalizing the appointments just concluded in application and in compliance with the incompatibility criteria introduced in 2018.
Very few fellings
"The new Management Committees - declares the President of Coldiretti Cuneo, Enrico Nada - will necessarily collect the heavy legacy of the past year marked by the spread of the Wild Boar Plague and by the absolutely insufficient number of slaughters, just 25.000 in Piedmont, an inconsistent figure when compared to previous seasons such as 2020/2021 in which there had been 25.408 when, however, the PSA had not yet broken out, while the goal was to reach 50.000 already in 2022 ". "We need a radical change of pace - highlights the Director of Coldiretti Cuneo Fabiano Porcu - with the immediate establishment of the new bodies because any delay would be a serious act of irresponsibility by the entire regional council towards the sector and the Cuneo pig chain and national".
African swine fever
The increasingly concrete risk is that ASF, conveyed by the uncontrolled proliferation of wild boars, also arrives in the Province of Cuneo with disastrous consequences for pig farms and the Parma Ham and San Daniele supply chains. In fact, the Cuneo pork supply chain - recalls Coldiretti Cuneo - with its 800 companies has almost 900.000 items destined above all for the protected circuits of the main Italian DOPs for the preparation of the best national delicatessen.
