HUNTING THE WILD BOAR: The examination of the fourth implementing measure of the Extraordinary Program for the eradication of African Swine Fever 2015/2017 continued today, which concerns the measures for the eradication of ASF in the populations of wild and farmed wild boars, conducted by the Head of the Unit of Progetto with the representatives of the hunting associations, in a meeting in the building in viale Trento.
Bonifacio Cuccu of the Sardinian Hunter Union, Marco Efisio Pisanu of Hunting, Fishing, Environment, Franco Sciarra of the Italian Federation of Hunting, Carlo Masnata, member of the Project Unit were present at the meeting, which followed that of 14 October last year. representing the Forestry Corps, Davide Brugnone from the Department of Environmental Defense, Modesto Fenu di Laore and Sandro Rolesu for the Zooprophylactic Institute of Sardinia.
The meeting served to continue the discussion on the regulation prepared by the Region regarding wild boar hunting as part of the measures to eradicate ASF throughout the region and to listen to the observations of the representatives of the hunters following the previous meeting, in in order to share, where possible, specifications and improvements, in order to facilitate the application of the rules and ensure the participation of all, in the awareness that ASF is a general problem that involves the entire island and penalizes important production sectors.
The representatives of the hunting associations presented their proposals for changes, in a fruitful exchange with the director De Martini and with the technicians of the Region, which ended with the improvement of some points, to the satisfaction of all the participants in the meeting.
Still in the context of the actions aimed at the eradication of ASF, Argea Sardegna, the regional agency for the management and disbursement of aid in agriculture, published a few days ago the call for the submission of compensation applications aimed at supporting the income of pig holdings falling within the protection and surveillance zones set up around the outbreaks of ASF.
