The third edition of the Sanico Boar Festival di Toscolano Maderno (province of Brescia) ended with the "visit" of the Forestry Carabinieri and a veterinarian from the Health Protection Agency. The doctor and the military intervened following a complaint from the LAC (League for the Abolition of the Hunt) and they ascertained that the dishes were based on wild boar and not reared.
For this reason the organizers were denounced, even if the meat turned out perfectly fit for consumption, which is why the event was not blocked. Two rules were violated. First of all, the ban on feeding wild animal meat and for commercial purposes was not respected, even if it concerns huntable species.
Furthermore, the ban on slaughter outside the plants set up for this purpose. The people in charge of the festival admitted the ingenuity committed, even if everything would be done in good faith, since it was they who had revealed the origin of the meat of the ungulate, without forgetting the publicity concerning the event.
