Wild boar hunting in Sardinia. "The meeting in the Region was positive to try to find meeting points, but for this hunting season nothing will change and we as hunters have chosen not to collaborate and not go hunting wild boar on Sundays".
Thus the representatives of the self-managed Nuorese and Ogliastra companies who met the director general of the Presidency of the Region and project manager for the eradication of African swine fever (PSA), Alessandro De Martini.
Also present were the mayor of Orgosolo, Dionigi Deledda, the regional president of Hunting, Fishing, Environment, Marco Efisio Pisanu, the expert in Psa Pasquale Cossu. At the center of the discussion is the fourth implementing measure of the Psa eradication program, in the populations of boars wild and farmed.
"The meeting went well, but for this season we will not offer collaboration to the institutions for the eradication of the PSA, there are too many responsibilities and too many burdens on us, said Nicola Sanna of the self-managed Fundals -: we must equip ourselves with a pit for the disposal of the bowels, of a cooler, we must carry out the samples and take them to the Zooprophylactic Institute. The vehicles and premises we use to find ourselves must be disinfected every time we use them. In short, a day of hunting is becoming a day of work. We already pay taxes to hunt, we don't have to lose any more money and our time ”.
For the hunters, the protest, which began last Sunday with the gathering in Pratobello, continues: "We asked the Region - underlined Antonio Manca, self-managed from Orgosolo - that the contact person of our hunting companies is a veterinarian of the ASL: we cannot be the ones to carry out the withdrawals; we also want to be helped with funds for the purchase of coolers, suitable containers for slaughtered animals and for the construction of pits for burying the bowels; alternatively we ask for the elimination of the regional tax for hunting ”.
“The dialogue tables with the territories, which we have been carrying out for months and which we intend to enhance, go ahead with the maximum collaboration of all - said De Martini -. It is necessary to sensitize and inform hunters, administrators and men of the forestry corps about the new rules. Teamwork is essential. Today we have accepted some comments regarding the commitments of hunting companies with the new regulations. As a project unit we are evaluating how to meet these requests, which will be brought to the attention of the junta and the regional council ”.
