The Abruzzo regional section of the COPAGRI (Confederation of Agricultural Producers) commented on the boar selection hunt through its president Camillo D'Amico. In addition to remembering the participation in institutional tables and the formulation of proposals after important discussions with hunters, farmers and conservationists, the association pointed out that the revision of the regional wildlife plan is an opportunity to be seized on the fly.
It is in fact a useful moment to define a new hunting future, respect for the environment, and in which the interests of the agricultural world are taken into due consideration. COPAGRI Abruzzo demands concrete actions and interventions to really reduce the number of wild boars in the region. The Territorial Areas of Hunting have been invited to start the authorization selection hunting, while the Abruzzo Region should increase the maximum number of leaders to be killed.
An emblematic example is that of Vastese, where the quota has been set at just 300 unity when the population is much larger. Damage to ungulates is a chronic and well known problem, so the data need urgent review. Finally, COPAGRI asked the Region to create the boar production chain to create stable and lasting employment.
