Selection hunting of wild boars. In recent days, the Council of the Liguria Region, on the proposal of the Councilor for Hunting, Stefano Mai, has approved the regulation governing, throughout the region, the hunting of selection of wild boars.
In fact, for the first time, Liguria will have a single instrument that allows the regulation of the selection levy of boar, harmonizing the competences of the former Provinces in the matter of wildlife management currently transferred to the Regions.
The new regulation, which will be operational from the next hunting season, is the result of a preventive discussion with all the representatives of the hunting, agricultural and environmental world and complies with the provisions of Ispra. It concerns the collection of ungulates (wild boar, roe deer, fallow deer and chamois) in established periods by the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research.
"The purpose - underlined the commissioner Mai - is to be able to monitor and control wildlife which, it is known, can have a strong impact on agricultural activities, both professional and non-professional and, in general, on the territory".
Furthermore, as regards the reimbursement of damages caused by both wild boars and wolves suffered by farmers and breeders, a new regulation was approved for the operation of the "fund for prevention and nourishment", consisting of a large part of the taxes paid by hunters, aimed precisely at the aforementioned purposes suffered by individuals and companies. The measure will certainly significantly reduce the problems caused by wild boars, which have occurred for many years, especially in the Riviera di Levante and were accentuated in the summer of 2015.
