Precise and punctual rules
“We learn - the president of Liguria Confagriculture, Luca De Michelis - that given the rules, which in fact establish that in areas subject to ASF, killed wild boars must be sent for disposal, many hunters would desist from hunting as they cannot 'consume' the meat of ungulates ”. "If this intention were confirmed in the facts - continues the note from Confagricoltura Liguria - we would be faced with an inconceivable and unacceptable position which, among other things, makes the implementation of precise and punctual rules less and less postponable. on the management of the 'wild boar meat supply chain', a real problem, evidently, for hunters who seem more interested in what is to safeguard the territory and its activities at a critical moment such as that of the management of the chronic ASF emergency in the territories of Genoese and part of the Savona area ".
Hunt in the red zone
"Certainly - De Michelis continues - on the contrary to the above, we know perfectly well that the rules for hunting in the PSA red zone are very stringent and cumbersome, however we would not have expected a drastic decision of the hunters, such as not to carry out hunting activity, but rather an awareness of how hunting especially in this area would exercise a fundamental role in safeguarding the territory and all the economic activities existing there, heavily penalized by almost a year in the red zone ". It would seem that a playful - recreational activity, such as hunting, can and should only be exercised if one is not obliged to dispose of wild boars as provided for in the PSA area.
The requests of Confagricoltura
"For some time - Confagricoltura Liguria reiterates - we have not only asked for the timely regulation of the wild boar meat supply chain, but also the need, year by year, for a shift of teams between performing areas, with respect to the assigned quotas, and areas where these results are chronically are not obtained ". "Not only - concludes the Ligurian president of Confagricoltura - more than thinking about the army in the field against wildlife, which is certainly more boutade to be on the front page of the newspapers than a real and effective proposal, let's start by simplifying the process for farmers who intend to defend themselves, both in terms of de-bureaucratization of preventive communications for the defense of their own fund, where it is thought that a farmer who surprises ungulates on his land can act only if he communicates everything to the bodies in charge 24 hours in advance, and to install fences and trapping cages, for which no communication or authorization should be required ". And in this sense Confagricoltura Liguria made its observations on the draft regulation 'modalities for the control of ungulates pursuant to article 36 of the regional law of 1 July 1994, n. 29 (Regional regulations for the protection of homeothermic fauna and for hunting) ', presenting a written note to the Councilor Piana, today (source: Confagricoltura).
