The cry of pain

This is the outburst of the agricultural entrepreneur Roberto Terrini who photographs the increasingly complex situation in the municipality of Maggiora, in the province of Novara, with the disproportionate increase in wild boars. The specimens are occupying both the free hunting areas (under the responsibility of Atc) and those of catch restocking (managed by the provincial administration). “At the beginning of the month we requested the intervention of tutors - continues Terrini - but no killing was carried out, while subsequently, despite the various requests for the expansion of the problem, no action was given.
A plague to be solved
Our meadows are devastated without anyone doing anything and, as we all know, these animals are a danger even on the roads: a few days ago they caused an accident near the Conti Castle, fortunately without serious consequences for the driver. We want this scourge to be resolved, but it seems that there is no will on the part of the institutions ”. “The Region has enabled the Province and the Atc to proceed with the wild boar depopulation process but the result of the extraordinary measures leaves much to be desired - commented the President of Coldiretti Novara-Vco Sara Baudo and the Director Francesca Toscani.
The problem of swine fever
Appropriate measures must be taken and it seems that at this moment the competent bodies are not able to do so. In the area of Maggiora and dei neighboring municipalities there are many livestock farms that need forage to be able to guarantee animals for the winter: with the devastation of the meadows this risks being compromised. And then, what is even more important, if the presence of cases of African Swine Fever were ever found in our territories, the damage to thezootechnical economics would be incalculable. In that case will the Province and Atc pay? This is why we need timely and meaningful action to tackle the problem ".
