Meeting with associations
In fight against wild boars la Province of Padua continues with the incisive action of contrast. Vice-president Vincenzo Gottardo met with the trade associations Confagricoltura, Coldiretti and Cia to take stock of the situation in view of the approaching autumn season. The critical area is above all that of “Le Vallette” in Ospedaletto Euganeo. “After the ballistics survey, carried out by Province of Padua, for the installation of the roof terraces - said Vincenzo Gottardo - we carried out technical inspections with the expert and the Police to evaluate the most suitable points. The latter was also carried out with the owners of the funds and the representatives of the trade associations.
Expected expenditure
The Province of Padua is planning an expense of 25 thousand euros for the purchase of scaffolding / roof terraces. We are coordinating the initiatives, intervening on the territory in collaboration with the Veneto Region, the Euganean Hills Regional Park, some municipalities in the area and representatives of trade associations. The Veneto Region, the territorial headquarters of Padua, has acquired the authorization of the owners of the funds and now we are starting the procedures for the verification of volunteer personnel. The installation will take place in the area of interest which extends along the perimeter of a wooded area in which a large colony of wild boars, responsible for numerous damage to the surrounding crops, finds home and refuge ". The wild boar must be identified near the moat and the marshy area, i.e. when the animal has just left the protection oasis to head towards the surrounding crops, reached which could easily disperse, produce damage, making it more difficult to kill.
Necessary access routes
The technical evaluation suggests the location of the roof terraces near the exit paths of the wild boars from the oasis (trottoi) and at a distance of about 20 meters from the perimeter moat of the Oasis. Ten positions have been identified in which it would be possible to place the prefabricated metal roof terraces with a walking surface four meters above the ground level. Among the various places identified to position the roof terraces, in the light of the technical expertise and experience of the Provincial Police staff and of the selecontrollers, it was recalled the need to provide access routes with cars and the possibility of movement in the phases of reaching the stations and recovering the felled items. "The installation of the roof terraces - concluded Vincenzo Gottardo - is conditioned by a series of steps and authorizations on which we are working with the utmost urgency with the aim of guaranteeing the safety of the anthropogenic factor and the maximum effectiveness of the interventions" (source: Province of Padua)
